When your friends start to change

I had a best friend in Primary school, we were probably the only best friend 'couple' in the year, and I thought we'd be best friends FOREVER. But things change. She started to care so much about what people think of her, if boys like her, what she wears, how she acts. I'm very different to that. Yes, I care if I'm acting like a total looney-tune (Although that's often me in class) but I don't care if my clothes aren't from fancy shops (Target is my favourite:)) or if no boys like me. And it annoys me when I'm with her now... She's always on her phone checking if this boy has texted her or if her friends are doing something without her, and as much as I really really want to stay as close with her as i was in Primary School... I don't know if that will ever happen. I totally separated from my other friends when going into high school, not on purpose but to have a fresh start and also because I don't like the school most people were going to, plus I got a select entry position in the school I'm in at the moment. I have a great friendship group at high school, although sometimes we go through 'rough patches' but I'm confident and happy with them. I don't want to cut my 'best friend' off but slowly we'll just fade away from each other, and I think that's okay.  Friends do grow out of each other (if you read Girl Online this'll sound  familiar) and I think it's natural, I wish it didn't happen but I believe that slowly your life will start to fall into place.

Let me know if you have a friend that you've maybe grown out of, or you feel like your friendship is slipping. And finally, if you're in Primary make the most of it because you'll never be going back and you don't realise how much you'll miss it until you're gone :)

  1. Hi!
I had a best friend in primary school, we were so close, until the last year of primary. Nothing happened, we just both made new friends. We've been back in touch lately, and talk a lot now! Sometimes friendships just need a breather, whether its a year or two, or only a week long.

  2. Hey,
I know that, a lot of friendships were broken because of each Person have had their own friends and Change a Little bit. It's hard but friends come and go often really fast.
I have a lot of best friends ( I call them so, because that are the most important of my whole friends) but I'LL tell you a Story with one of These best friends.
One of my best friends I know since always. We were neighbours, I think in class five for about two years we don't talk anything with each other. We hadn'T any argue no, we were grown out of us because we were going to different Schools and everything were different. after this time we were going to a swim Club and our friendship came back. Now I've already said we are best friends and like sisters.

    1. I'm glad that you've rekindled your friendship! My best friend and I do a sport together and are going away with each other which I'm sure will be super fun! Whether we gain back the friendship we had 3 years ago or not I still treasure her like before.

  5. I know what you're going through.. My best friend of around 4 years started getting into makeup and clothes, and caring about boys, and I was in your position.. I cared more about bands than boys.. But trust me, lovely, change is part of life, as crappy as that might sound.. I hope everything is okay for you, though!

    1. Sometimes you have to just step back when change starts occurring and just remember that everything happens for a reason! Thank you for your advice and for checking out my page.

  6. I can totally relate to this. My primary school best friend and I have totally drifted apart and now we barely talk. Change is hard, but sometimes it's for the best.

  7. Hey!

I recently grew out of a friendship- nothing went sour. In fact, it was sweet right up until the very end. However, we just became ripe in different ways- and I guess we out grew the taste of one another (in the most platonic way possible). It happens.

Here's some advice: You're bound to change as a person as you grow and people will change differently. If a person no longer serves you, it's time to cut them loose.

    I'll be following your blog!

    ALL THE BEST!

    1. Thanks for the advice, over a year on and I'm still friends with the friend I was talking about. And I think if anything we've gotten closer because we're now both aware of our changes and are happy not to be as close but still remain commonly in touch :)
